Take a Hike, “Take a Chef”
At Radfoods MT, we believe that cooking, and fine dining as a whole, are an art. No meal is the same and no dining experience is the same. So when private chefs are contacted or booked through a third-party service, it immediately diminished our approach to creating a one-of-a-kind dining experience. An app cannot connect with you directly the way we do. They cannot negotiate specific menu items and pricing the way we do. What is the app in question you might ask? The answer: Take A Chef.
My team and I long to be as custom and personal as possible when creating our dishes and menus. This is why we don’t share preset menus on our website, because we believe that every menu has it’s own story. When an app like “Take a Chef” comes on the scene and tries to get private chefs to use their services for bookings, those chefs completely lose their identity. We would no longer be “Radfoods MT”, we would be “A chef I found on Take a Chef”, and we will simply not let that happen.
Now, you might be saying, “Ok Chef Austin, then just don’t use ‘Take a Chef’”, but what I want, is for you to not use them either. Sure big corporations who want to partner with a chef service for their thousands of locations/event all around the world might use them, and that makes sense. But for your intimate dinner party with friends and family to celebrate your 25th wedding anniversary, absolutely not. You want someone that you can build a relationship with, not someone you met through an app and then on the day of the event they show up at your home or business. We spend ample time with our clients prior to their events to ensure that we have gone over every detail, but also getting to know them so we can customize their experience as best as possible.
So not only is “Take a Chef” watering-down the art of cooking and fine dining, they are stripping you of the bespoke dining experience that private chefs, like Radfoods MT, can offer you! Before you book through “Take a Chef”, consider reaching out directly to a local private chef and let them know what you’re looking for. This is a hard environment for restaurants and private chefs alike. We want to keep your lives as normal and enjoyable as possible throughout this trying season. But we can only do that if you let us.
Best,
Chef Austin
